monumental house anthem alert! another classic jammer from 1992 lifted straight from the strictly vaults. this one s huge. phuture aka acid house pioneers spanky and dj pierre (with a little help from roy davis jr) turn in a driving, acidic monster in true wild pitch style. probably the only record that begins with a sinister voice saying this is cocaine speaking before diving head-long into one of the best anti-drug house records ever. absolutely brilliant. bubbling 303 basslines and cavernous handclaps combine with a funked out, dubbed out synth line that just doesn t stop. phuture will survive, and they weren t lying when they said that as this record (among too many others they had a hand in) still rock today. yep, still fresh. tried and tested, often imitated, never bettered. phuture are the originals. open up your eyes (and ears). this one s a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all 4 mixes as per the original release way back when. essential stuff here. you simply need this one.

toby tobias joins delusions again for what will be his sixth(!) 12inch entitled the rain. the prolific londoner whose releases have graced such venerable labels as rekids, esp intistute and lets play house, is back with a vengeance, delivering two mighty fine originals plus a remix from nebraska. in true toby tobias style, the rain got made on an mpc, sliced and edited from a single live take through the desk then accidentally deleted so no further mixing, sequencing or editing could be carried out. but what is an a&r mans nightmare, turns out to be the record buying djs gain, as the improvised, dubby vibe and raw as mixdown give the track an authentic feel and energy which could only come from the madness in tobys method. fresh from his brilliant releases on mister saturday night and razor n tape, we have our man nebraska do his thing on the remix of the rain. dropping down the bpms a bit from tobys more frenetic original, nebraska adds a healthy dose of moogy lead lines to the lo-slung house groove, perfect for warming up the dancefloor.

french artist marc nguyen tan released two renowned albums in the early 2003 and 2006 under the artist name colder on trevor jackson�s seminal label output recordings. in november 2015, colder returned after a decade in hiatus with his third, highly acclaimed album many colours followed by two other lps titled the rain and goodbye in 2016. kasper bjorke is one of the most acclaimed and versatile producers and djs hailing from denmark. kasper has released five renowned solo albums over the past decade and remixed a wide range of artists, from rebolledo to weval. the two artists first started working together when kasper remixed colders single �your kind� - and colder in return remixed bjørke s track �marbled blood�. the idea to take their collaboration even further was formed when the two of them met in person during sonar festival in barcelona in 2015. in 2016 they then teamed up in the redbull studio in paris for a three day improvised recording session. the result is the black magic ep in stores on september 8th via throne of blood. a collection of five raw, driving post punk / new wave and techno influenced compositions, recorded via the studio ssl desk in paris, using hardware synths and drum machines played through some exotic vintage effects. colder recorded his mesmerizing vocals on the spot along with french drummer julien sabourin and saxophone player thibaut javoy. the ep will be followed by a stellar remix package from the golden filter (optimo music), mutado pintado (paranoid london) and french producer and dj pilooski.

here at quantize we simply love confounding expectations cos, guess what? we love all kinds of music and don t like to be stereotyped. but this one even surprised the hell out of us so much so that we figured it deserved a 7inch vinyl release in tribute to the original format. think (about it) was originally recorded 45 years ago in the summer of 1972 by the fiery lyn collins. produced by the godfather of soul, james brown, it barely scraped into the rnb top 10 at the time and normally would have faded into time as just another great james brown produced record but in 1987, it started to get sampled by a new generation of hip-hop artists like roxanne shante and robe base and dj e-z rock. suddenly the world woke up to the possibilities of sampling and since that point, think (about it) has been sampled 1908 times and is the no.3 most-sampled record of all time. so we decided to cut a new version of it with real musicians and one of the few vocalists that would be capable of matching lyn collins firepower - dance music s diva supreme, the incredible barbara tucker. we wanted barbara to really cut loose on this and she didn t disappoint. and yes, those are real keyboards, real guitar and real horns. believe us, this session was off the scale! so when we finally got our breath back we decided we had to get this out on a 45 on its 45th anniversary! it seemed the most appropriate way to do justice to a record that simply jumps outta the grooves. we believe think (about it) will have universal appeal pretty much everywhere since the song is now implanted within the dna of dance music across the world.

doorly s reptile dysfunction continues to prove itself to be one of the most vibrant and singular labels around, this time tapping up legendary producer jaydee for its latest release. jaydee is a dance music pioneer. best know for the seminal plastic dreams - a track that, somewhat terrifyingly for those who remember it the first time around, will be celebrating its 25 th anniversary next year - he has continued to be a leading light in innovative house and techno productions, releasing on r&s and ellum audio in the last few years. here, he teams up with fellow dance music visionary doorly for a searingly brilliant release on the latter s reptile dysfunction imprint. acid pressure ep presents two original cuts from jaydee, with supporting remixed from doorly and trooko. kicking things off, back into acid opens with stunningly heartfelt pads before building to a killer acid line via shimmering percussion and erotically charged vocal snatches. bring the pressure is more direct: a house roller softened by basic channel-esque chords and with added rhythm courtesy of the accompanying ragga chants. on the remix front, doorly flips back into acid into something far more menacing, with fierce synths stabs and rolling drums creating a head down stomper, while trooko chops back into pressure into pieces, crafting a thumping main room house cut from the constituent parts, complete with an epic, piano-led breakdown.

whilst not the first uk dance scene the mods had that covered � northern soul is the longest running. those northern clubbers who eschewed late 60s psychedelic fripperies for obscure old soul records with the requisite beat, couldnt have known what they started. after using up all the uk released sides they began digging in the united states and after nearly 50 years the northern soul scene has probably unearthed more great music than any other. all night long is our tribute to those pioneers and includes current in-demanders such as the sensations demanding man, classics by the chandlers and ernest mosley and a host of other dancefloor friendly masterpieces. all night long, can you feel that beat and extra added soul will be available on cd & double vinyl and are compiled by dj and award winning compiler dean rudland, with stunning artwork from his long-time collaborators the unknown. across the three volumes there are 60 tracks of soul, funk and boogie.

the second release from bobby analog�s body fusion imprint follows in the footsteps of the first with heavily swung drums, some creative sample manipulation and a lot of soul. three tracks laced with tough 909�s, tape driven bongos, some lovely strings, an organ and even a touch of acid.

finally four guys from the deepest south of germany decided to share some of their shit on vinyl and hodenhouse is the result of this idea. as the name of the label suggests those four guys never takin things and themselves too seriously. it s a pure love thang. and love is limited. like our first ep, hodenhouse001, limited to 250 pcs, vinyl only. perhaps in the future there will be some more releases, perhaps not. we don t know jet and to us it isn t as much important at the moment. the ep includes tracks from mad lee, kaam and nly1p. be prepared. it will be released later this year. yo.

the wrdubs split series is back serving up both sickness and slickness on our 4th plate to date. pon a side duties t.a.r drops a beautiful mindfuck of a track. the crafting of the bottom end of this tune is pushing next levelz while the mids and tops are full of unsettling rattles and insane voices. really not like anything else atm this tune will stop em in their tracks. progression. flip to the aa and vgb drops some sub-soul for us. robust bottom end and drums supporting a melody that addresses our need to escape the sometimes narrow musical boundaries of dubstep. expression.

cult duo rework are next up on my favorite robot with a five track ep that shows off their brilliantly inventive house and tech style. the production outfit of daniel varga, michael kuebler deal in left of centre and freaky house with a mischievous afterparty slant. they have been active for more than a decade now and have credits on great labels like visionquest, items & things, meant and the institution that is playhouse. the brilliantly sleazy �talk it off� opens things up with popping drums, playful lyrics and a steely sound that is designed for wonky basement parties. �valencia� goes deeper with warm drums and synths surging along next to an elastic groove that is propped up by energetic and incendiary chord stabs. it�s a subtle but high impact track that will raise the energy levels on any floor. �think about you� has vocals coated in echo and delay and trippy synths that are lively and off kilter. it makes for a track that is brilliantly loose and undulating and cannot fail to get under your skin. final track �attractive� heads in a much more techno direction with surging drums and hypnotic slithering synths that burrow deep into your brain and seep into the night. it is trance inducing for sure, and shows another side to this accomplished outfit. this is a versatile ep stuffed with killer cuts for many different moments in the night, and each is as standout as the next.

after releasing records on l.i.e.s. and its offspring russian torrent versions labels, caserta (close to neaples, italy) native domenico crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless techno. a third record on eerie cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre�s pioneers.
august of 2016 sees domenico�s sonic determination surprisingly rematerializing on silent servant, regis and james ruskin�s jealous god label with a new, strong ep crowning the distinct quality of this limited series.
through such particular path domenico got inspiration to start his own summa cum laude label project, where his most forward thinking works and brand new, surprising talents will have the first chance to get properly published.
